meditation

Question
I want to know is meditation beneficial for ADD and OCD and depression and other anxiety disorder?.I have heard while doing meditation ones mind goes from beta state to theta and delta states creating relaxation.

Answer
Hello Fazle,

Thank you very much for your question. Let me first start by saying I am not certified to diagnose nor treat ADD/OCD. I can speak from my personal belief however. I have found that meditation is a powerful tool for providing clarity and calm for those with ADD/OCD. The results do depend however on the severity of the condition. There are some situations, I believe that can be supported with the appropriate application of medication with meditation as an adjunct. I do not believe medication should be considered lightly however as many can have varying side effects and potentially depreciate one's quality of life.

I would ask that you do consider a daily regimen of meditation to experience the results for yourself. Start with 15 minutes and increase the time each week until the desired length of time is achieved. Keeping a log of your experience will also assist in focusing the mind. Keeping a log can also provide additional opportunity for learning how to work with the mind in a beneficial way.

I hope this information has been of assistance. Should you have additional questions, please feel free to ask. Be well.
