Question
I asked some good ways to relive stress, i can't go to a meditation group or anything like that because i have no ride or anything to go anywhere which is why i was asking because i simply just can't get away from home, but you said something about seeing a counselor, should i just go to my school counselor and talk to them about the stress and how would i know if i'm getting depressed?
Answer
Jake,
Sorry, I don't remember you. An excellent way to release stress is to practice deep meditation. You can learn an excellent technique from a six-lesson manual mailed directly to you (www.nsrusa.org). Just follow the instructions. The deep state of restful alertnesss will dissolve stress quickly and give you relief.
Your idea of seeing a school counselor is a good one. I would highly recommend this. If you luck out, you'll get someone qualified who will give you some good advice.
There are many websites on depression. You should visit one and read the list of symptoms. Do you have three or more of the symptoms? If so, you should consider talking to your doctor about seeing a psychiatrist and getting some antidepressant medicine.
With all the knowledge of medicines and effective meditation available today, there is no reason anyone has to struggle and suffer with stress. But you do have to move out of your "comfort zone" and find something that works for you.
Good luck, my friend.
