meditation

Question
1. while meditating i felt extremly sleepy and most often i used to sleep even without my knowledge, how to avoid this problem ? please help me.

Answer
anandh, Thank you for your question.

If you are using an effective form of meditation that allows your mind to transcend to finer levels of thinking (such as Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation), then sleep indicates that your mind cannot support these finer levels. This will happen when your body has a "sleep deficit" built up over many years of insufficient rest.

The best way to deal with this problem is to allow yourself to fall asleep. Sleep as long as necessary. When you awake, finish with a few minutes of meditation to regain alertness.

You should also check with your doctor to make sure that you do not have an illness that may be causing the sleep.
