ego

Question
is it accurate to think of the ego as the graphical user interface that lets us interact with a computer? in other words, it's not the real computer and has nothing to do with whats really going on in the background, but its what everyone sees. is this a constructive way of thinking of the ego?

Answer
Greg, Thank you for your question.

The awakened intellect feels whole and joyful within itself. To the extent that we identify with our experience of thoughts and the objects of the senses, we lose ourselves in that identification. It is always difficult to speak of the nature of consciousness, since using words commits us to the realm of thought, a realm that is subject to interpretation.
